Douglas Mossman, M.D. received the Guttmacher Award during the 2008 Annual Meeting of the American Psychiatric Association in Washington, D.C. Following the presentation of this award, Dr. Mossman delivered his Guttmacher Award Lecture, “Critique of Pure Risk Assessment or, Kant Meets Tarasoff.”
The Manfred S. Guttmacher Award honors outstanding contributions to the literature on forensic psychiatry. The award, is co-sponsored by the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law since 1982 and supported by a grant from Professional Risk Management Services, Inc., manager of The Psychiatrists' Program. The award is officially presented at the AAPL meeting held during the APA annual meeting, as is the recipient's award lecture.
